The Clinton Community Nature Center and the Mississippi Native Plant
Society present a native plant propagation workshop. Participants will
experience hands-on propagation methods led by experts in the field with
a chance to take home locally collected native seeds. Attendees are
welcomed to bring their own collected native seed to share, or to
inquire about the right propagation methods for that seed.
Presenters include:
Gail Barton - Horticulturist, Native Plant Grower, Educator, and
Heather Sullivan - MS Museum of Natural Science State Botanist.

8:30-9:00 Sign In – MS Native Plant Society
9:00-9:15 Everything you need to know about the Clinton Community Nature
Center, their efforts to preserve and promote native plants and
plans/hopes for the future – CCNC Personnel
9:15-9:30 Short introduction of the attendees to facilitate networking
throughout the day
9:40-12:00 Seeds, Seeds, Seeds! Hands-on seed propagation training in
the CCNC facilities with emphasis on collecting, cleaning, treating and
planting recently collected local wildflower seed. It is likely that
free seed will be available for participants to take home.
12:00-1:00 Lunch on site. Bring a lunch or contribute $5 so that we can
order pizzas to share. There will be networking opportunities during
lunch.
1:00-2:00 Propagation of natives by cuttings and division with emphasis
on timing, facilities and follow-up care.
2:00 Take a walk and explore the CCNC trails
