Nature Lecture Series
A monthly lecture series featuring conservation and environmental topics. These programs are usually held on the third Thursday night of each month at 7 p.m. in Price Hall. The public is invited to attend free of charge (donations by non-members are encouraged).
For preschool children ages 2-5 and their parents/guardians, this program is designed to introduce children to nature through music, stories, puppets and outdoor play. The program began in March, 2011.
Monarch Rescue and Adoption
Dr. Bill P. Stark, Sadler Professor of Biology at Mississippi College, conducts a Monarch Rescue at Choctaw Trails off McRaven Road in southwest Jackson. Participants will be able to collect samples of Milkweed, and egg and larval specimens of Monarch Butterflies for rearing. Instructions on care and feeding of larvae will be provided. Those needing directions to the collection site should come by Price Hall at the Clinton Community Nature Center.
Native Plant Sales
The Whitfield Price Nursery at the Nature Center was established to provide a source for native plants. It also occasionally has antique roses and a few favorite bedding plants and perennials. Three sales are held each year -- October, February and April -- but, some plants are available year around. Some plants are grown in our nursery but most are ordered from outstanding wholesalers.
Nature Day
This annual festival offers something for everyone. Bird & nature walks, live birds of prey, reptiles and other animals. Educational & informational booths, children’s activities, plant sales, food and much more!
Trail Walks
Field trips for school groups, home school groups, senior groups and other may be scheduled. In addition self directed trail walks are always available and guided tours including golf cart tours for those who cannot walk long distances are available on request.
Play the Wild Side Golf Tournament
Annual Golf Tournament held at Live Oaks Golf Club to Benefit the Clinton Community Nature Center.
Summer Nature Camp
Week long, age appropriate camp offering each child a wide range of environmental learning experiences along the trails and in Price Hall.
Teacher Workshops
The CCNC provides year-round opportunities for teachers to participate in nationally-recognized environmental education programs. Many workshops offer Continuing Education Units (CEU's).
