Meredith
Montgomery was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She attended Kenyon
College in Gambier, Ohio where she majored in Studio Art and
Environmental Studies with a minor in Dance. After graduating, she
moved to Naples, Florida where she worked as a naturalist at the
Conservancy of Southwest Florida’s Nature Center. From Florida, she
made her way over to Mississippi, first at the Jackson Zoo as the Lead
Keeper and Manager of the Discovery Zoo, and then as an Associate
Research Biologist at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science for
three years. Meredith became the Director of the Nature Center in April
2007 and is enthusiastic about what the Center currently has to offer,
and the tremendous potential it has for growth in the future. When she
is not at the Center, she is building her at-home art business, “Art by
Mer”, helping with animal rescue, or teaching Yoga at the YMCA in
Jackson. Meredith lives in the Belhaven area of Jackson with her
husband and their 3 dogs, 3 turtles, and tortoise.

Ed started working at the Center during the summer of 2007. He retired from the School for the Deaf after working as a teacher and administrator for over 30 years.
