On the Trails:

9AM Bird Walk with Matt Smith & Judy Shearer of the Jackson Audubon Society

10AM Urban Forestry Tour with Dr. Steve Dickie of the Central MS Research and Extension Center

Identify and learn about the trees in our urban forest and their importance

10:30AM Monarch Rescue & Adoption- Dr. Bill Stark, MC Professor & CCNC Board Member

It’s time for the Monarchs to migrate through Clinton again! Learn all about these fascinating creatures. Members will be able to adopt monarch eggs to take home and raise (while supplies last).

10AM Backyard Habitats with Adam Ronhke, JAS President

What is a habitat? Learn about habitats and how to create backyard habitats to attract wildlife to your own yard!

Join Ms. Pat and her own live birds of prey to learn all about these magnificent creatures!

1:15 PM Nature Songs and Storytelling with John Stark

Sing some songs and hear some silly stories while learning about animals!

2PM What is a Reptile? with Meredith Montgomery, Nature Center Director

 Learn what a reptile is and meet some live critters up close and personal!

In the Classroom:

9:15AM Urban Mammals with Angel Rohnke- Museum of Natural Science Education Director

What makes a mammal a mammal? Learn all about the mammals found in our urban setting.

11AM Urban Bird Program with Terri Jacobson & Noreen Kenny of Jackson Audubon Society

Learn all about the birds we have here in the Jackson area and how to identify them.

12PM Global Warming with Luke and Charlotte Lundemo

What is global warming? Find out all the facts of global warming and how you can make a difference.

Native Plant Sale 8AM-3PM

Don’t forget to stop by the plant sale for all your native plants. Volunteers will be available to answer questions about the plants on hand at the Whitfield Price Nursery. 

Kid’s Activities

Stop by the Kid’s Tent for all kinds of fun hands-on nature activities! From crafts to microscopes, there will be something for everyone. The Audubon Society will also be providing materials for kids to make birdhouses or feeders to take home for their own backyards. And don’t miss face painting on the porch!

Hungry?      

11AM-2PM Hamburgers and drinks will be for sale thanks to the Lion’s Club of Clinton. And pick something sweet up at the Bake Sale provided by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Special Visitors

Keep an eye out for our special guest, Sammy Soil from the Natural Resources Conservation Service. He can tell you all about soil and why it is so important! Pluggy from Clinton Fire Department and Smokey the Bear are expected to make an appearance as well!
