THE MONARCHS ARE HERE!!!
 
Monarchs arrived in Clinton sometime in the past 24 hours (as of 1:30 pm March 23, 2007). One female was observed laying eggs at the Choctaw Trails site and 44 eggs were recovered from 50 milkweed plants inspected. This is the earliest recorded arrival for this area since monitoring began in the mid-1990's.  

Report your sightings of Monarch adults, eggs or larvae on the Journey North website, http://www.learner.org/jnorth/, and join us at the Center on Nature Day to learn more about Monarchs and their spring migration.  Watch the Monarch egg pictured above develop into an adult butterfly like the one shown below.
